Background to the World Summit Award

In 2003, eight New Zealand projects were entered in the first World Summit Award. As a result of these awards, New Zealand gained international visibility in the e-Health sector with the Mobile Medical Bus and in the e-Culture sector with Living Heritage.

In 2005, the best in each category was submitted to the World Summit Award. Special Mention Awards were received in the e-Business and e-Entertainment sections.

In 2007 the Pacific participated with Fiji being a winner and New Zealand had two winners and three Special Mentions.

This year we have the opportunity to capitalise again on previous successes. A small panel of national specialists will select the NZ submissions.
