In 2003, eight New Zealand projects were entered in the first World Summit Award. As a result of these awards, New Zealand gained international visibility in the e-Health sector with the Mobile Medical Bus and in the e-Culture sector with Living Heritage.
In 2005, the best in each category was submitted to the World Summit Award. Special Mention Awards were received in the e-Business and e-Entertainment sections.
In 2007 the Pacific participated with Fiji being a winner and New Zealand had two winners and three Special Mentions.
This year we have the opportunity to capitalise again on previous successes. A small panel of national specialists will select the NZ submissions. The Pacific submissions will be gathered collectively. There is no official competition and the International judging for the World Summit Award will take place in Dehli, India April 2009.
